Weekend Vulnerability and Patch Report, June 14, 2015 (Citadel Information Group)

Important Security Updates

Adobe Flash Player: Adobe has released version 18.0.0.160 to fix at least 13 vulnerabilities. Updates are available from Adobe’s website. Updates are also available for Adobe AIR and Acrobat.

AVG Free Edition: AVG has released version 2015.0.6030 of its 64 and 32 bit Free Edition. Updates are available on AVG’s website.

Dropbox: Dropbox has released version 3.6.7 for its file hosting program. Updates are available at Dropbox’s website. [See Citadel’s warning below]

Google Chrome: Google has released Google Chrome version 43.0.2357.124. Updates are available from within the browser or from Google Chrome’s website.

Microsoft Patch Tuesday: Microsoft’s Patch Tuesday released 8 updates to address at least 36 vulnerabilities — some of which are highly critical — within Windows operating systems, Internet Explorer, Office, Media Player, and other Microsoft products.

Mozilla Firefox: Mozilla has released version 38.0.6. Updates are available within the browser or from Mozilla’s website.

Opera: Opera has released version 30.0.1835.59. Updates are available from within the browser or from Opera’s website.

Java SE 8 Update 45 [Citadel recommends removing or disabling Java from your browser. Java is a major source of cyber criminal exploits. It is not needed for most internet browsing. If you have a particular web site that requires Java, Citadel recommends using a two-browser approach to minimize risk. If you normally browse the Web with Firefox, for example, disable the Java plugin in Firefox and use an alternative browser — such as Chrome, IE9, Safari, etc — with Java enabled to browse only the sites that require it.]
