IBC 2017: Caringo to Showcases New Swarm Additions (MESA)

Caringo will showcase the latest additions to their Swarm scale-out cloud & object storage system at IBC 2017 in Amsterdam.

The Swarm additions add three new features including: Marquis Workspace and Project Parking support where users can backup or migrate Avid projects to Swarm over the industry standard S3 protocol; Swarm Content Portal enhancements which include playing a .mp4 video file on the web browser, domain/bucket creation and properties, metadata tagging, content search, accessing the information over S3 with a generic S3 client, and Infrastructure Management highlighting a more powerful and user intuitive Swarm user interface.

Caringo Swarm enables content delivery and post production operations to intelligently aggregate all storage outside the high-performance layer into a comprehensively managed storage pool at the lowest possible acquisition and operating cost. Swarm reduces costs by optimizing storage capacity while minimizing power and cooling expense by storing data in the smallest possible footprint and properly spinning down disk that aren’t being accessed. By providing a massively scalable global name space, Swarm allows for infinite expansion across multi-vendor, local and cloud based storage while minimizing data loss by protecting against silent data corruption, malware intrusion, and traditional disaster scenarios. It easily integrates into media production and post, distribution and archive workflows, delivering up to a 75% reduction in storage TCO through standard hardware, and unique operational and workflow efficiencies including:

• Industry-leading (either storage or disk) utilization for your content. Use up to 95% of hard drive space and 100% of drive bays for digital assets.

• Ability to automatically add performance or capacity in 90 seconds and continuously upgrade hardware without downtime or disruption to asset accessibility.

• Automated policy-based protection to optimize for rapid access or datacenter footprint delivering enterprise-grade durability while defending against ransomware attacks.

• Cross-platform collaboration and access enabled by Write/Read/Edit via HTTP, S3 or NFS interchangeably.

• Rapid asset retrieval and instant delivery via integrated search with the ability to add custom metadata.
