‘Tech Takes Talent’ Returns to the Hollywood Innovation and Technology Summit Oct. 3 in L.A.
There are new hurdles around every corner for Hollywood’s technology community today, from fulfilling the promise of direct-to-consumer, to making good on the potential metadata, machine learning and artificial intelligence bring to the table. And while there are all sorts of challenges unique to technology, above all it takes the right talent — and the right environments to evolve that talent — to get past those hurdles.
Hollywood’s CIOs and top technology minds — the group charged with bringing the industry into a new era, and finding the right people to make it happen — will be out in force Oct. 3, when the Hollywood IT Society’s biggest event returns to Los Angeles, bringing its “Tech Takes Talent” theme to the annual Hollywood Innovation and Technology (HITS) Fall event, being held at the Skirball Cultural Center.
What new technologies are impacting our individual approaches to data gathering and learning? How do you recruit the best people out there, while retaining the best you already have? In what ways can you implement new processes that make people the central driver of digital innovation? How can you both use and go beyond data and technology to get your storytellers and technologists on the same page? And your teams maximizing the value of new collaboration tools, in order to deliver the best content with the lowest amount of risk possible? This year’s HITS Fall program will address these questions and more.
Keynoters, panelists and the popular HITS Innovation & Technology breakout session series will explore major technology shifts in how traditional IT is transforming metadata, programming, productions, and direct-to-consumer offerings. Attendees can expect breakout sessions from Entertainment Partners, edgescan LiveTiles, MarkLogic and more.
In conjunction with HITS Fall, Women in Technology: Hollywood (WiTH) will hold its Women’s SoCal Leadership event — with the theme “Resilience and Risk Taking – Keys to Success” —featuring a keynote by Susan O’Day, EVP of enterprise technology and CIO of The Walt Disney Company.
HITS Fall is programmed under the guidance of the Content Advisors of the Hollywood IT Society, which includes Steve Andujar, EVP and CIO of Sony Pictures Entertainment; Bruce Bleasdale, VP of technology operations for The Walt Disney Co.; John Herbert, EVP and CIO of Fox Corporation; Steve Lapinski, CIO of filmed entertainment for NBCUniversal; Theresa Miller, EVP CIO of Lionsgate; and Abe Wong, CIO of Viacom Media Networks and Paramount Pictures.
The event is presented by Entertainment Partners, with sponsorship by Genpact, Variety Business Intelligence, edgescan, LiveTiles, MarkLogic, the Entertainment ID Registry (EIDR), Signiant, the Trusted Partner Network (TPN), Cinelytic, Microsoft Azure, Richey May Technology Solutions, and Comcast Technology Solutions.
HITS Fall is produced by the Media & Entertainment Services Alliance (MESA) and the Hollywood IT Society (HITS), in association with Women in Technology: Hollywood (WiTH); the Content Delivery & Security Association (CDSA); and the Smart Content Council.
