Iyuno Acquires Scalamedia to Create New Market Leader in Germany (MESA)

Iyuno Media Group announced the acquisition of the German localization company Scalamedia. Scalamedia, with six studios in Berlin and Munich, joins Iyuno Germany, a division of Iyuno’s global network. The bolstered strength of Iyuno Germany creates a global network of 35 facilities across 30 countries for Iyuno Media Group as a creative production leader for language localization.

Backed by global investors SoftBank Ventures Asia, Shamrock Capital and Altor, Iyuno is combining cutting-edge technology with its scalability around the world to help serve regional broadcast, Hollywood studio and global OTT clients.

With the acquisition of Scalamedia, Iyuno Germany is faster, more flexible and able to handle even greater capacity to support local and global content producers and distributors.

Established in 1949 as Berliner Synchron, the first professional dubbing studio in Germany, Iyuno Germany is now powered by a workforce of 90 employees.

“Scalamedia is the perfect fit with a long-standing track record of quality work in localization,” said David Lee, Executive Chairman, Iyuno Media Group. “The new Iyuno Germany is a cornerstone of our global expansion plan as our increased physical presence provides additional support to our customers looking for global solutions as the need for localization rises.”

Scalamedia, a 30-year old company with over 27,000 square feet (2,500 square meters) of production space in Munich and Berlin, is one of the largest German-based localization providers with a reputation for its work in serial dramas for TV networks, OTT providers, as well as theatrical dubs for independent film studios.

“Iyuno Media Group’s innovative approach to localization, combining cutting-edge technology with the most experienced experts on the ground provides us with the best tools for our customers,” said Shaun Gregory, CEO, Iyuno Media Group. “We’re proud to add Scalamedia to Iyuno’s global network of localization studios as we have the collective resources and scale needed to accommodate our existing customer base who are looking for both quality in-house resources and efficiencies across all projects.”

“Iyuno Germany is one part of Iyuno’s vision to bring the world together through content,” said Anatol Holzach, Managing Director, Scalamedia. “We are joining an organization that provides our team with an infrastructure utilizing innovative technology and practices that make us regional and global leaders in localization.”
