Wasabi CEO Honored as a Top Executive (MESA)

Wasabi Technologies announced today that CRN, a brand of The Channel Company, has named David Friend, CEO, to its 2020 list of Top 100 Executives. The annual list, which recognizes the trailblazing technology executives who are shaping, transforming, and disrupting the IT channel, recognized Friend as a Top Disruptor in the industry.

David Friend founded Wasabi to revolutionize data storage in the cloud by making it affordable, predictable and reliable. David is a driven entrepreneur, bringing unique creativity to the IT channel through years of industry experience. Getting his start in the music industry, he developed synthesizers used by Stevie Wonder, David Bowie, and Led Zeppelin, which led him to incorporate his creative passions into the fabric of his ventures. Dave co-founded five companies before Wasabi, including Computer Pictures Corporation, Pilot Software, Faxnet, Sonexis, and most recently, Carbonite.

“It is an honor to be included on this list alongside such respected industry leaders. This recognition from CRN is a testament to the dedication of the entire Wasabi team and further validates our mission to deliver scalable, low-cost data storage that drives our channel partners’ success,” said David Friend, Wasabi’s CEO. “Cloud storage is an ideal product for the channel because every customer needs storage. We’re dedicated to helping the channel make money on cloud storage. As the world’s data migrates to the cloud, we want as much of it as possible to be stored in Wasabi. And we want the channel to sell it.”

The Top 100 Executives list recognizes leaders who have demonstrated exemplary influence and innovative ideas for the IT channel. In doing so, they help vendors, solution providers, and technology suppliers thrive in an IT marketplace that is both fast-changing and ever more complicated.

“As the IT channel becomes increasingly complex, especially when companies have had to shift to an all-remote workforce, it has presented new challenges for solution providers and technology suppliers alike,” said Blaine Raddon, CEO of The Channel Company. “The technology executives on CRN’s 2020 Top 100 Executives list have been able to adapt their channel strategies and continue to provide exemplary leadership to keep their businesses running seamlessly, regardless of today’s challenges.”

The Top 100 Executives list will be featured in the August 2020 issue of CRN Magazine.
