Securing Collaboration on Convergent Risks CEO’s Mind at Oct. 20 M&E Day

The media and entertainment supply chain had to pivot quickly to support a newly distributed workforce, and the addition (and integration) of new technologies has resulted in unforeseen innovations.

But while the likes of new, cloud-based workflows have opened up opportunities for scale and efficiency (via the use of automation, streaming, and integration capabilities), these ongoing innovations also mean new security risks … and may be difficult to keep up with emerging threats.

That’s the message Convergent Risks’ Chris Johnson, president and CEO, and Janice Pearson, VP of global content protection, will bring to their breakout presentation — “Actionable Insights into Securing Innovative and Collaborative Environments” — at the Oct. 20 Media & Entertainment Day, a live, worldwide virtual event, taking place during the all-new NAB Show New York digital experience.

The vulnerabilities in M&E workflows are often the same and include incorrect access control configuration, DDoS attacks and handoff between cloud and on-premises environments, Johnson said. Attendees of his presentation will hear strategies for protecting against common threats in a dynamic environment with he and Pearson addressing key areas where security must be implemented to ensure that operations remain secure.

“The motivation for attacks remain the same and range from financial fraud and espionage to IP theft and content piracy,” he said. “From Convergent’s vantage point as a leading provider of security assessments, we come across new types of SaaS application and cloud workflows that support collaborative working. As such we can see that the threat landscape is becoming even more challenging.”

M&E Day is sponsored by IBM Security, Microsoft Azure, SHIFT, Akamai, Cartesian, Chesapeake Systems, ContentArmor, Convergent Risks, Digital Nirvana, edgescan, EIDR, ICVR, PK, Richey May Technology Solutions, STEGA and Synamedia, and is being produced by MESA, in cooperation with NAB Show New York, and in association with the Content Delivery & Security Association (CDSA) and the Hollywood IT Society (HITS).
