PK to Examine Strategies for Safeguarding Data at Oct. 20 M&E Day

It’s no secret media and entertainment companies need a constant eye on data security throughout the content supply chain. And yet while API security has grown particularly important, it’s an area often overlooked in the development of planning for data protection, making APIs attractive targets and the source of data leaks.

At the Oct. 20 Media & Entertainment Day — a live, worldwide virtual event, taking place during the all-new NAB Show New York digital experience — Lou Powell, partner and head of API practice for PK, will talk how “bulletproof APIs” can be relied upon in critical applications, where data breaches are simply do not occur.

“The behavioral shift we have experienced in the last eight months has accelerated consumer adoption of online channels,” said Powell, who will deliver the presentation “Innovate Fast without Sacrificing Security: Employing Bulletproof APIs to Safeguard Data.” “Increasing activity will increase the number of teams consuming and contributing sensitive data to the enterprise. Yesterday’s security solutions will not allow us to accelerate delivery to the market and continue to protect consumer data.

“In this session, PK will explore the value of shifting security practices to the left to decrease risk and accelerate delivery. The session will cover strategies and thinking around secure API development and discuss case studies involving some of the world’s leading brands where API security has been pivotal to their success in the marketplace.”

M&E Day is sponsored by IBM Security, Microsoft Azure, Shift, Akamai, Cartesian, Chesapeake Systems, ContentArmor, Convergent Risks, Digital Nirvana, edgescan, EIDR, PK, Richey May Technology Solutions, STEGA, Synamedia and Signiant and is being produced by MESA, in cooperation with NAB Show New York, and in association with the Content Delivery & Security Association (CDSA) and the Hollywood IT Society (HITS).
