Convergent Risks Brings Different Approach to Workflow Security at CPS Event

Many existing security controls for workflow security are out of date — or coming from unfamiliar sources — and that’s making it hard to interpret what measures should or should not be used. With the convergence of theatrical and streaming release dates, many vendors in the supply chain are handling content at a more sensitive stage, and need better guidance.

Enter Convergent Risks’ EVP Mathew Gilliat-Smith and VP of international Nik Savchenko, who’ll offer up their unique ideas on improving the work-from-home security front, in the Dec. 8 virtual Content Protection Summit presentation “A Different Approach to Workflow Security.”

The pandemic has fast tracked the pace of change within the media and entertainment supply chain, but businesses have risen to the challenge. Workflows that were unthinkable, or conceptual at best previously, are now the reality.

Streaming theatrical releases directly to consumers and simultaneously to cinema is the new way with NBCUniversal, Disney and now Warner Media leading the way. There will be many more vendors involved in handling content at an earlier stage, as well as processing it with faster turnarounds.

“The strongest security controls used to be the preserve of on-prem post-production vendors but now hybrid public and private cloud workflows are common, as are the proliferation of the many new web applications for remote working,” Gilliat-Smith said. “As a result traditional security controls and guidance is too narrow and for vendors who have been used to handling content at a less sensitive stage — they now need to meet the demand of a significant change in circumstance.”

He and Savchenko will discuss this changing landscape and will describe three supply chain case studies highlighting the need for better guidance on security controls to support the vendor community.

Presented by Microsoft Azure, the event is sponsored by SHIFT, Genpact, Akamai, Convergent Risks, Friend MTS, GeoGuard, PacketFabric, Palo Alto Networks, Richey May Technology Solutions, Splunk, Zixi, EIDR, Cyberhaven and Xcapism Learning.
