2020 Edition of MESA’s Winter M&E Journal Goes Live

The winter edition of the “M&E Journal,” published by MESA and targeted toward senior media and entertainment executives who oversee their companies’ digital futures, is now available online.

The 152-page publication features insights from a host of MESA members, from Akamai to ZOO Digital, with the issue’s main focus centered on how the industry responds long term to the challenges presented by the pandemic.

Along with the cover section — “What’s Next?” — the issue offers industry insights for several crucial industry areas, including Localisation, New Workflows, Smart Content and Security. Additionally, the “M&E Journal” also features columns from MESA’s executive leadership team.

Here’s a quick overview of some of the topics contributed by our European members:

• Localisation – read about the challenges COVID-19 has created for providers of localisation services such as Keywords Studios, The Kitchen and ZOO Digital and how they have all found innovative technology solutions to ensure business continuity. The pandemic has also led to some new and unexpected opportunities given the increasing global demand for content.

• Security – our security focused members such as ContentArmor, Convergent Risks, Fortium, NAGRA, OpSec and Synamedia have seen rising threats with the shift to remote working and the greater reliance on digital workflows to complete projects. Learn how pirate activity is changing and how the industry is reacting. It is clear that industry collaboration will be key.

• Production & Workflows – hear how the post-COVID production industry will need to remain agile, Take 1 talks about the ‘Good, the Bad & the Ugly’, citing COVID-19’s impact on the M&E sector. Meanwhile Digit talks business as usual and how the pandemic is magnifying changes, which needed to be made. TransPerfect reviews the explosion in video which brings with it challenges and huge future opportunities and Vubiquity has the last word on how the world of streaming and the consumer experience will shape up in 2021.

The overarching theme for the European M&E industry is one of huge challenges being addressed with technology, innovation and collaboration. We have witnessed unprecedented change in 2020 and it is clear that the sector needs to continue to embrace this digital transformation in 2021 and beyond.
