Cognizant Acquires Cloud, Data Companies

Digital solutions firm Cognizant announced two new acquisitions Jan. 11, adding cloud transformation consultancy group Linium and data and analytics consulting firm Servian to its portfolio of services.

Linium, based in Albany, N.Y., has been a longtime specialist in the ServiceNow cloud platform, offering solutions for smart digital enterprise workflows, with Fortune 100 clients and others looking to the company to better leverage cloud technology, to improve efficiencies and user experiences.

Cognizant expects Linium to expand its capabilities and expertise in using cloud technologies to serve clients. It’s Cognizant’s seventh cloud-related acquisition since January 2020, representing an investment of approximately $1.4 billion in acquisitions. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, however Cognizant shared that all of Linium’s approximately 150 workers will join Cognizant’s global ServiceNow practice.

“Linium’s specialized ServiceNow focus broadens Cognizant’s enterprise service management capabilities while complementing our own longstanding ServiceNow alliance,” said Malcolm Frank, president, of Cognizant’s digital business and technology. “Creating more agile workflows in the cloud is a priority for our clients, and together with Linium, we can now provide world-class, enterprise-wide ServiceNow expertise to customize workflows for customers and employees. We look forward to Linium’s team joining Cognizant.”

Joe Burke, co-founder of Linium, added: “We are excited to join forces with Cognizant. ServiceNow continues to gain market relevance, and by combining Linium’s skills and knowledge with Cognizant’s scale and rich expertise in cloud, digital engineering, automation, and other pivotal technologies, we will be well-positioned to capitalize on the market opportunities ahead.”

Meanwhile, Cognizant’s acquisition of Australian data and analytics consulting firm Servian will boost the company’s digital portfolio and market presence in Australia and New Zealand, Cognizant said. Along with data and analytics, Servian specializes in artificial intelligence, digital services, experience design and cloud services.

The acquisition marks Cognizant’s 10th digital-focused pick-up announced since January 2020. Financial terms were not disclosed.

“Enterprises in Australia and New Zealand are at an inflection point in their digital adoption,” said Jane Livesey, CEO of Cognizant’s Australia and New Zealand arm. “Cognizant’s extensive digital expertise combined with Servian’s strengths as the premier technology partner in the region will open up the full power of digital transformation for our Australasian clients. We look forward to welcoming Servian’s talented digital-native professionals to Cognizant.”

Servian’s 500-plus technology and consulting professionals, based primarily in Australia and New Zealand, are expected to join Cognizant, doubling Cognizant’s cloud and data team in the region. Google, Microsoft, Amazon Web Services, Salesforce, Oracle and Red Hat are among the major companies Servian calls clients.

“Enabling clients to leverage their data assets for accelerating business transformation and driving competitive advantage is at the heart of our success,” said Tony Nicol, founder and CEO of Servian. “We share Cognizant’s passion for innovation powered by digital technologies. With Cognizant’s deep industry expertise and global scale, we will be able to apply our strengths in strategic advisory, engineering delivery, and managed services across an even broader spectrum of challenges and opportunities presented by the digital economy.”
