Tamr Talks Data Mastering at Scale at April 13 EIDR Event

During the “Data, Innovation and Collaboration” breakout track of sessions during the April 13 EIDR Annual Participant Meeting, attendees will hear from Seychelle Hicks, APAC sales lead for M&E at Tamr about the need for successful data mastering for every entertainment organization.

With enterprise data growing exponentially, technology has yet to address the challenge of large data volume, and variety and unintended data silos. Hicks will identify the gap between business needs around data quality and availability, and the reality of the state of enterprise data, in the presentation “Data Mastering at Scale.”

“There is often enormous value in integrating these silos for customer cross-selling, optimizing supply chains, title mastering, etc.,” the session descriptor reads. “Traditional rules-based mastering for silo integration does not scale. It is well known that rule systems will work as long as the rule base is small (say 500 rules).

“When a mastering project requires substantially more than that, traditional projects tend to fail. So, how can we solve this issue? Enter data mastering.”

Following Hicks’ presentation, Raymond Drewry, VP of EMEA operations and principal scientist for MovieLabs, and Niels Rump, secretariat of DDEX, will take the stage to update attendees on a partnership between EIDR and DDEX (a standards body focused on the music industry) to deliver a system that identifies such venues where content is created and where content is used, in the presentation “Coming Soon to a Value Chain Near You: Venue ID.”
