Signiant Shares Pitfalls of M&E Cloud, SaaS Economics at HITS Spring

At the May 12 at the annual Hollywood Innovation and Transformation Summit (HITS) Spring event, intelligent file transfer software firm Signiant will make available to attendees a new white paper: “Five Pitfalls of Cloud and SaaS Economics in Media.”

Available at the HITS Spring event resources area and the virtual Signiant booth, the free paper examines how most media and entertainment companies have started to use SaaS offerings and public cloud infrastructure in the past five years to meet many technology needs. But certain patterns have emerged that show repeated, common mistakes media companies make when undertaking this process.

Buying process overkill, underestimating roll-your-own costs, over-bundled cloud services, choosing on-demand over subscription, and overestimating utilization are the five pitfall areas Signiant goes into lengthy detail about in the study.

“If there’s one takeaway Signiant would impart on M&E organizations looking to invest in cloud and SaaS solutions, it’s this: cloud and SaaS economics are rarely as simple as they initially seem. This leads to pitfalls that can cause enterprises to miss out on the actual, disruptive business value the cloud can provide,” the report reads. “There is no doubt the cloud provides opportunities to deliver value in disruptive ways, but truly achieving the full economic value requires new thinking. We hope these lessons from the thousands of media companies Signiant works with will help you avoid cloud and SaaS economic pitfalls.”

Look for the report May 12 at HITS Spring, running 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. PT.
