Premiere Digital, Pixelogic’s Seidel Among DEG TechOps Awards Winners

Premiere Digital and Pixelogic Media’s CTO Craig Seidel were among the winners April 28 of the inaugural Technology & Operations Awards, held by DEG: The Digital Entertainment Group.

The awards were created to recognize technological accomplishments in the digital media supply chain and honored both companies and individuals.

Seidel was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award for his previous work at MovieLabs, where he led development of the Digital Distribution Framework, a suite of specifications geared toward enabling an automated digital supply chain among content providers, platforms and service providers.

Premiere Digital took home a pair of awards: a Technology Innovation award for its team, comprised of Christine Lim, Alex Liu, Carrie Moore, Vijay Nikam, Mangesh Pawar, Samy Pugazhend and Debbie Tongyoo; as well as a People’s Choice Award, which was voted on by attendees during the event.

“DEG is so pleased to recognize the winners — and all the outstanding finalists — for the inaugural DEG TechOps Awards,” said Amy Jo Smith, president and CEO of DEG. “As was noted by a number of senior industry executives and Oscar-winning director Pete Docter during the show, our TechOps community is the engine that drives delivery of premium content to consumers across the globe. Without these people, there would be no in-home entertainment as we know it.”

The event’s Lifetime Achievement Award was presented by Dolby, the Technology Innovation Award was presented by Whip Media, and video production of the event was courtesy of creative content sponsor TiVo.

Among the awards’ other finalists were EIDR’s Richard Kroon, MovieLabs’ Kip Welch, Iyuno-SDI Media, Vubiquity and Verizon.
