Daiwabo Information System Signs Distributor Agreement With Wasabi Technologies

DIS will become the first distributor in the Asia Pacific region to offer Wasabi’s pioneering hot cloud storage solution starting today. DIS will deliver cloud storage provided by Wasabi to users nationwide through its sales network of approximately 19,000 resellers, based on a community-based sales structure with approximately 90 sales offices throughout Japan.

As a multi-vendor, DIS will also offer Wasabi cloud storage combined with backup software and appliances – currently being sold, marketed and integrated – as a solution to help customers adopt cloud storage at an affordable price ensuring a reliable backup environment. The two companies will work together to help Japanese users deepen their understanding about potential benefits and cost-effectiveness that the cloud can deliver while solving a range of data-related challenges and issues including, but not limited to those in the backup space.

Wasabi’s customer base is growing exponentially around the world, storing data ranging from backup, disaster and ransomware recovery, archiving, surveillance footage, medical images, scientific research, education, genomics, AI/ML data lakes, TV, film and government data. In addition, Wasabi offers enhanced cost benefits as users can expect dramatic savings when compared with other conventional cloud storage services due to its price and predictability with no fees for egress or API requests. Wasabi empowers enterprises of all sizes to store more data for less and reduce IT budgets, so businesses can focus their time and capital on other core objectives. Additionally, Wasabi has expanded its footprint to meet the growing demand for cloud services in Japan, opening APAC headquarters in Tokyo, with an additional storage region in Osaka.

As part of the agreement, the two companies will also launch joint marketing activities, including participation in DIS events to raise awareness and attract partners in the Japanese market, training sessions to introduce the solution to new partners, marketing development support to help such partners quickly bring cloud storage information to the market and a self-service portal with marketing content with concierge marketing services for partners planning their go-to-market strategy.

“As Japanese companies accelerate their digital transformation initiatives, one of the major themes for IT departments is to create a backup environment where data can be stored affordably, protected securely, and accessed easily and instantly,” said Hiroyuki Matsumoto, Representative Director, President, Daiwabo Information System Co., Ltd. “We are delighted to be able to sell and market Wasabi’s hot cloud storage solution, which meets all the requirements for this environment. DIS will continue to work with Wasabi to solve the various data-related problems faced by companies and organizations by integrating our own services with Wasabi’s cloud storage and jointly developing new Wasabi-enabled solutions.

“We are delighted to be working with Daiwabo to provide our customers with the best of breed solution for their data storage needs,” said Kaz Kuroda, Vice President, APAC & Managing Director of Japan. “Wasabi’s hot cloud storage works with AWS S3 compatible services in the DIS portfolio, including backup and replication providers such as Acronis, Arcserve, Commvault, Veeam and Veritas. It is a channel-friendly product that is easy for partners to sell and market. With over 8,000 channel partners worldwide, Wasabi is thrilled to be partnering with DIS to continue the expansion of our partnerships with resellers and MSPs in Japan and offer our customers an affordable ‘data continuity solution’.
