Smart Content Summit Speaker: Why Intelligent Products are the Future of M&E

At the March 10 Smart Content Summit in Los Angeles, Sabrina Chamberlain, senior director, data engineering, at technology and business consulting firm Slalom, will discuss why she believes intelligent products will play a significant role in the future of the media and entertainment industry.

During the breakout session “Intelligent Products – the Future of M&E,” Chamberlain will explain why the days of static products and generic consumer experiences are ending.

M&E audiences are expecting increasing personalisation, customisation and relevance at every touchpoint.

During the session, Chamberlain will explain, among other things, the four components you need to create an intelligent product and dive into some examples of intelligent product use cases in M&E.

Ahead of the event, Steven Polster, managing director, M&E at Slalom, explained: “Audiences and employees need more personalised and consistent experiences across all touchpoints, and the challenges of maintaining attention and managing changing demands are greater than ever. The usefulness of traditional digital products is rapidly diminishing, heralding the arrival of intelligent products.”

The Smart Content Summit session will “cover the differences between a typical digital product and an intelligent product, how to create intelligent products, and share some examples of intelligent product use cases in M&E, as well as spark ideas for how intelligent products can add new value to your teams and customers,” Polster added.

Later in the day at the 2022 Smart Content Summit, Nona Janssen Walls, senior principal consultant at Slalom, will speak during the session “Working Group: Catalogue Mergers and Acquisitions.” As media companies merge, split, and acquire catalogues from one another, someone must deal with the intellectual property and its metadata. The process can be complex and time consuming and it comes with unique challenges.

The EIDR Working Group for Catalogue Mergers & Acquisitions will share some advice and lessons learned.

Also at the 2022 Smart Content Summit, Atul Phadnis, founder of cross-border content and data intelligence platform Vitrina AI, will deliver the opening keynote for the day: “Why Map the Global Supply Chain for the Entertainment Industry?”

Phadnis will set the stage for the Smart Content Summit with a deep look at the international media and entertainment “universe” of content creation and distribution, discussing scaling data across the enterprise using AI, data and metadata standards, and providing key benefits and use cases around aggregating this kind of information.

Phadnis is also the entrepreneur-in-residence for SRI International (formerly the Stanford Research Institute) and previously served as the chief content officer for Gracenote.

The 2022 Smart Content Summit event will be held in conjunction with the EIDR Annual Participant Meeting (EIDR APM), and is presented by Whip Media.

The event is produced by MESA, in association with the Smart Content Council and EIDR, with sponsorship by BeBanjo, Signiant, Qumulo, Adio, Alteon, Digital Nirvana, PacketFabric, Slalom and Rightsline.
