BB: Europe Sees Influx of New Streaming Services

Media and entertainment consulting firm BB (Business Bureau) has debuted its latest “Multiscreens+ Platform Essentials” report, looking at the breakdown of new services that debuted in May.

Europe was the biggest beneficiary of new and expanded services with five launches, including French cinema company Gaumony launching its first subscription VOD service dedicated entirely to black and white French films.

Additionally, Together TV and Red Bee Media teamed up to launch a streaming service that’s an offshoot of the Together TV Network, targeting women ages 40-60, with a focus on programming related to health and wellness and creativity.

Meanwhile, Video Solutions rebranded its Watch4 and W4Free services as wedotv, and will expand in Europe, Australia and Africa; Danish streaming service Biites debuted in The Netherlands; and Pluto TV launched across Sweden, Denmark and Norway.

In the U.S., Los Angeles-based Synepic Entertainment has launched Sakka, a Japanese cinema streaming service, with further expansion planned. And in Africa, Disney+ debuted in South Africa.
