Irdeto, Clavister to Bring Enhanced Security to the Connected Transport Industry

Irdeto’s Connected Transport business will partner with Clavister to combine Clavister’s Next Generation Firewall solution and AI engine for zero-day vulnerabilities with Irdeto’s Asset Protection capabilities. The collaboration will enable end customers to monitor and manage their connected fleet securely and remotely while delivering world-class digital customer experiences.

Clavister has long been securing transport infrastructure and critical applications as part of its public sector focus and working with long-term partners. Irdeto’s long heritage and global footprint across multiple transport segments, such as automotive, rail and construction, brings a unique combination of skills and knowledge to extend both parties’ security offering further. The new partnership will also bring tangible benefits to customers of both parties by providing comprehensive network protection.

Clavister’s NGFW provides unrivalled protection of an asset’s internal networks, as well as mitigating cyber threats from external sources. The Clavister technology furthermore protects any OT network against zero-day attacks. Irdeto Asset Protection comprises of Irdeto’s Anomaly Detection System (ADS) that detects and notifies of anomalies in various types of onboard networks.

The system notifies its users of emerging and ongoing cybersecurity threats within the vehicles that it monitors. In addition, the Device Management System allows for remote inventory, diagnosis, configuration, and updating of the solution and the underlying software platform.

Niels Haverkorn, SVP and General Manager for Connected Transport at Irdeto, said: “As the pioneer of network security, Clavister has continued to build highly robust and adaptive cybersecurity solutions for the last 25 years. Combining this with Irdeto’s long heritage of building market leading cybersecurity products, it was natural for us to pursue the partnership with such an industry pioneer as Clavister, and we’re excited for our customers to tap into the benefits of this collaboration.”

John Vestberg, CEO of Clavister, commented: “At Clavister we pride ourselves on our ‘Cybersecurity made in Europe’ mantra and hold ourselves to the highest standards in providing an excellent service to our customers. We apply the same focus and diligence to our trusted network of partners, so I’m very pleased to be working with Irdeto on our shared mission of providing comprehensive cross-network security to our clients.”

Irdeto and Clavister are leading suppliers for train cybersecurity with the Asset Protection solution that works on all types and brands.

The solution secures all components from any manufacturer and has been designed to work with legacy and modern fleets from the ground up. Asset Protection, which is already deployed in production vehicles, supports the companies’ strategic intent to expand to other connected transportation markets beyond rail, such as charging, maritime and automotive.
