BB Media: Europe Sees Big Streaming Gains

A new report from media and entertainment data tracking firm BB Media shows numerous streaming launches and expanded offerings for Europe to close 2022.

Paramount+ launched in France on 1st Dec and in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, on 8th Dec, with access to shows from all of Paramount’s sister networks (Comedy Central, MTV, Nickelodeon and Showtime), as well as Paramount Pictures films. ITV announced the launch of its new free streaming platform, ITVX, in the UK with more than 10,000 hours of content at launch.

In France, viewers also saw the launch of the new OTT platform TV4Planet, with a wide range of content on environmental topics. And in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Kosovo, Montenegro, Serbia and Slovenia, SkyShowtime debuted, featuring thousands of hours of entertainment.

Meanwhile in North America, Disney+ launched its ad-supported tier Disney+ Basic in the US, and Pluto TV debuted in Canada on 1st Dec, and in Australia AVOD service ElectricNOW launched with approximately 450 hours of programming, including Electric Entertainment’s original productions.

Lastly, KidsBeeTV launched its new app KidsBeeTV en Español, featuring content in Spanish for kids in Latin America and the U.S. The app features more than 1,500 videos.
