MESA Member Webinar Week Ahead: Jan. 23-27

SecureTheVillage hosts a pair of security-related presentations, Perforce looks at the year ahead for innovations, and Veritone discusses how to generate new revenue streams while managing your media.

Those are just a few of the events from the MESA community the week of Jan. 23-27, according to MESA’s global member e-calendar.

Here’s a look at what’s ahead:

Tuesday:

• “Oracle on AWS: How to Successfully Migrate Mission-Critical Workloads.” The most powerful benefits of the public cloud come from migrating mission-critical enterprise workloads and eliminating costly legacy infrastructure. But these migrations are inherently more complex and often raise concerns. How do you lower risk and ensure migration success? Join experts from AWS, Navisite and EDF (UK), one of the largest providers of power to UK businesses, for an interactive discussion about the challenges, strategies and solutions for migrating Oracle applications and databases to the cloud. Discover the top trends with migrating Oracle applications and databases; migration strategies including architecture and performance requirements; and how EDF successfully migrated its meter-to-cash business running on Oracle and established a modern IT foundation for growth on AWS.

• Join Harvard Club of Chicago, Harvard Alumni, and SecureTheVillage for a discussion with moderator and three expert panelists, on “Managing Business Risk at Technology’s Edge: Cybersecurity and Biometrics.” The secret of success, a guru once said, lies in managing risk, not avoiding it. Before you can manage it, though, you need to be aware of it, understand its dangers, and what you can do to mitigate it. This is particularly true of technology risk where small mistakes can have large, even fatal, consequences. Join our expert panel for an in-depth non-technical discussion of two of the most challenging risks facing business today. When you leave, you’ll better understand what you need to do to manage your information risk and the risk of collecting and storing biometric data.

• Riscure’s “Shift Security Left: Mitigating Hardware Vulnerabilities During Design Stage” describes the company’s approach to pre-silicon testing and talks about finding side channel and fault injection vulnerabilities during design. Riscure will also demo Inspector Pre-Silicon and talk about the roadmap of new features our customers should expect from in future releases.
In January 2023 Riscure is launching a new product within Riscure Inspector range that is focused on pre-silicon testing. This release is preceded by years of research, where the goal was to solve a major challenge for chip designers: detect vulnerabilities by simulating hardware designs and find their root cause. Should a major problem be discovered at a later stage, it is often difficult to implement a fix without major redesign or production delays, or it turns out to be impossible altogether.
Inspector Pre-Silicon is designed to help our customers identify vulnerabilities during the design stage. It offers actionable feedback to hardware designers without the need to have real silicon at their disposal. This enables customers to swiftly improve their product, make it more robust and, in the end, speed up the certification process.

Wednesday:

• OOONA hosts “Video Localisation in the Era of the Cloud.” In their latest analysis of the language services industry, Nimdzi report that 71.3 percent of the providers they surveyed provide subtitling services to their clientele, another sign of how this type of audiovisual translation continues to take over the world by storm. If you are interested in learning more about the state of the art in the field of subtitling and captioning and how it differs from traditional localisation work, join this webinar to be introduced to a new dimension of the video localisation industry, where the work is performed entirely online.

• “Perforce Innovations: Year-End Recap & 2023 Kick-Off” will discuss how Perforce has been working to add to and refine its suite of digital creation and collaboration tools. In 2022, the company released a number of products and features to help your team innovate and iterate more so you can get higher quality products to your customers faster. Learn more about what Perforce built in 2022 and get a sneak peek at what’s to come. Join Product Managers to discuss new features and performance improvements to Helix Core, Helix DAM (Digital Asset Management) and what’s next.

Thursday:

• EZDRM hosts “Protecting Streaming Revenue: 20 Years and Counting of DRMaaS.” As EZDRM marks 20 years in the streaming security industry, we thought that it would be fun to take an illustrated tour through the technology and marketplace changes over that time with some of our long-time colleagues and partners. Consider just a few of the transitions we have lived through – from Flash to CMAF, from browser plug-ins to integrated EME, from software-only security to pervasive hardware support, from interesting technical sideshow to globally dominant service empires. Not to mention the dramatic change in delivery networks that has made TV over the Internet a realistic business proposition. The key takeaways should certainly include a healthy perspective on how rapidly change does happen — and sometimes where it doesn’t. And you can guarantee there will be some gazing in the crystal ball to try and discern the future of the streaming marketplace.

• “EX Moment: How Zendesk Delivers Seamless Internal Support” will see Mariah Schuknecht, VP of people operations, share an internal use case and how to provide support to your own employee successfully. Behind every successful organisation is a powerful engine of internal service and support. At Zendesk, that means using its own SaaS product to keep internal support running smoothly.

• Veritone hosts “Generate New Revenue Streams While Managing Your Media.” With the demand for content skyrocketing, you need a way to ensure your audience can easily find, discover, and license your content as needed. Join iconik alongside Veritone as they walk through how media and entertainment organisations can save time and resources while generating incremental income. In this webinar, you’ll learn how a hybrid cloud MAM solution can help you better manage your media for post-production, review, and collaboration; how to build a digital storefront and publish content straight from your MAM solution; why AI is crucial to automate metadata tagging and help you discover valuable content; how iconik and Veritone are working together to empower media organisations by leveraging their two-part media management and monetisation solution.

• SecureTheVillage hosts “Abuse of Your Personal Privacy: How Government, Big Tech, and Political Agendas Have Run Amok.” Our government – whether at the Federal, State, or local level – is infringing on our privacy as much for seemingly good reasons, as for seemingly dubious ones. Certainly, everyone had an opinion as to whether this was beneficial or harmful during the Covid-19 pandemic. Add to the mix, the fact that our privacy is under assault by political agendas and special interest groups on both sides of the political spectrum, whether household names or those cryptically named and funded (e.g. Super PACs). Finally, we have the behemoth corporations – especially the ‘Big Tech’ platforms – who are monetising our private information. This discussion should help you to gain knowledge and perspective so that you can draw your own conclusions and decide what actions you want to take on this hot topic. Whether you are pro-choice or pro-life, pro-gun or anti-gun, pro-gin martini or pro-vodka martini – we can all agree that we SHOULD have the right to keep things private! This lively discussion will be relevant to any political affiliation.

• Key Code Media hosts “Postproduction Workflow: Hybrid Teams & Management.” The Key Code Media Postproduction event returns to Los Angeles with special guest panel discussions and a technology showcase delving into the technology workflows used by top postproduction editors, producers, engineers, TV/film studios, and creative agencies. The creative community has seen nothing but disruption lately; with streaming platforms, talent shortages, technological changes, managing remote teams, data security, and increasing workloads continuing into the new year. Hear from top industry talent on the new approaches to solving technology and industry challenges and what it can mean to you. This will be essential learning for any heads of postproduction, postproduction engineers, facility infrastructure managers, creative editors, colourist, producers, and AEs.
