Creativity and Security Intersect at Content Protection Summit

When you’re a creative in media and entertainment, you just want to focus on putting what you create out into the world. But while security may not be top of mind during the process, a world of cyber threats, piracy and spoiler-hungry outlets makes security a crucial part of the process.

At the April 17 Content Protection Summit at NAB (CPS@NAB), being held at the SAHARA Theater in Las Vegas, director and animator Jerry Rees (The Brave Little Toaster, The Marvel Experience) will share crucial insights about the intersection between “creative” and “security,” in both perspectives and philosophy, in the closing creative keynote of the day “Securing a Storyteller’s Vision.”

The new creative in residence of the Content Delivery & Security Association (CDSA), Rees has a decades-long career in animation and directing, including a record 15 multi-media Disney Theme Park attractions in Florida, Paris, Anaheim and aboard Disney cruises.

He’s worked with top Hollywood talent, including Steve Martin, Robin Williams, Kim Basinger, Goldie Hawn, and George Lucas, and at CPS he’ll discuss the realities of working across the Marvel Universe and other well-known Disney brands that have very tight restrictions and control of a complex set of workflows.

How to balance a true spirit of artistic innovation and creativity while adhering to all the requirements of secure productions and workflows will be the thrust of his discussion.

Since 2018, the Content Delivery & Security Association (CDSA) has gathered the security community in Las Vegas during NAB for the Content Protection Summit.

The afternoon of keynotes, panels and industry insights will examine the entire entertainment supply chain.

The event will be both in-person and online in the MESAVerse, MESA’s virtual work environment for its members and communities.

The 2023 Content Protection Summit is presented by Fortinet and sponsored by Convergent Risks, Signiant, Verimatrix, Eluvio, NAGRA, PDG Consulting and EIDR. The event is produced by MESA, in association with the Content Delivery and Security Association (CDSA).
