BB Media: New Streamers Debut While Others Bow Out

New streaming platforms are popping up in Latin America, North America, Europe and globally, while other streamers are bowing out in an increasingly competitive market.

That’s according to a new report from media and entertainment data firm BB Media, which noted a mix of new, discontinued, and expanded platforms for Europe, representative of what much of the world is seeing today in the streaming game.

In Poland, new documentary streaming service Vodylla launched, offering a wide range of unique and original documentary productions from RDF Entertainment, while Telenet TV Yelo in Belgium shuttered, with content previously available on Yelo moved to Telenet TV. Canal+ expanded into the Czech Republic and Slovakia, while in Germany M7 Deutschland said it would offer customers a SVOD service in addition to its portfolio of television channels.

Asia was relatively quiet during May, with Japanese streaming service dTV announcing a rebranding as Lemino. Joicinema, a free Indian streaming service, introduced an annual subscription plan that includes access to Warner Bros. Discovery content. Latin America saw two new platform launches, CTC+ in Argentina, and NEO+ in Brazil.

In the US, anime streaming service VRV merged with Crunchyroll with the VRV website and apps shuttering at the beginning of May; HBO Max went through with its rebrand to Max, and Disney and Hulu confirmed their combined service; and two new services were announced: AspireTV+ and GaitherTV+.
