Attendance at the SoCal Women’s Leadership Group meeting is complimentary for qualified end-users and requires separate registration. First Lady of Los Angeles, Amy Elaine Wakeland, will keynote the meeting with a presentation on “The Business Case for Women in Leadership,” exploring the shift in discourse of gender equity in business leadership – from reflection to action.  The keynote will be followed by a panel of industry leaders who will discuss the fundamental question, “How Did You Get Where You Are Today?” The group will then host individual table discussions before joining the HITS networking reception.

Wakeland is a political strategist, public policy expert, and advocate for children and families. She is active with organizations and campaigns focused on combating sexual and domestic violence and recently led successful efforts to fund and complete the City’s first-ever data driven analysis of the status of women and girls and to expand the city’s Domestic Assault Response Teams (DART). Her professional career also includes positions as Executive Director of the Coalition for Kids, Director of the Progressive L.A. Network, and Strategic Planner for the Los Angeles County Department of Public Social Services.

Panel Discussion:

Female executives from participating companies will discuss relevant topics, ‘how did you get to where you are today’ career triumphs and lessons learned – with specific suggested action items around what audience members can do about gender parity in leadership.
