Dr. Nelson Granados is the Executive Director of the Institute for Entertainment, Media, Sports, and Culture and Professor of Information Systems at Pepperdine’s Graziadio Business School. He often speaks on the disruption in media and entertainment by emerging technologies, with recent appearances at the Blockchain and Finance conferences at the American Film Market, and at Loyola Marymount’s Techtainment conference.

His research and insights on the economic and strategic impact of digital technologies in travel, media, and entertainment has been featured in premier business media outlets such as the LA Times, Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg Business Week, and Financial Times. He is also a frequent contributor to Forbes’ Media and Entertainment section, where he recently reached 1 million unique visitors. He consults on online pricing and distribution strategies in the travel and entertainment sectors, and he serves on the Board of Advisors of tech start-ups.

Dr. Granados has a PhD in Information and Decision Sciences, a PhD minor and Masters in Applied Economics, and an MBA from University of Minnesota. He has published extensively in top scholarly journals, including Management Science, MIS Quarterly, Information Systems Research, and Journal of Management Information Systems, among others. His research on the impact of digital technologies on demand, prices, and competitive dynamics has received numerous international recognitions, including Management Science Best Paper finalist (2012-2014 and 2013-2015), and Best Paper of the Year by Senior Scholars of the IS discipline and by the Journal of the Association for Information Systems. He is senior editor of the journal E-Commerce and Research Applications.
