Google Economist, Blockgraph GM Highlight HITS Spring Program

Qing Wu, senior economist with Google, Jason Manningham, GM of blockchain TV audience platform Blockgraph, and Laurie H. Hutzler, CEO of Emotional Tool Box Screenwriting will all take the stage May 23 for the HITS Spring event at the Sheraton Universal Hotel.

Wu’s keynote presentation — “Data Mining of the Internet for Business Decisions Driven by Consumer Understanding and Industry Trends” — will take a deep dive into what’s driving Google’s search trends, and how search can predict the outcomes of product sales, advertising marketing campaign, retail strategies and more.

Meanwhile, Manningham’s presentation around Blockgraph will show how the platform provides a secure way for sharing information, without disclosing identifiable user data to third parties, allowing for improved planning, targeting, and measurement across screens for TV advertising and marketing.

And Hutzler’s discussion — “Industrializing Story Telling – Film, TV and Online” — will show how international media companies are using a new methodology to tell stories that offer authentic characters that bring individuality and powerful emotional connections to screens both large and small.

HITS Spring will also see Mark Jackson, scientific lead of business development for Cambridge Quantum Computing, offering his thoughts on how quantum computing offers opportunities for innovation in the presentation “Quantum Computing and the Future of Entertainment & Content Security.” And Nonny de la Peña, an award-winning filmmaker and journalist, who spoke at the recent Cybersecurity & Content Protection Summit at the NAB Show, returns to the stage for the closing keynote “Is that Real? The Threat & Opportunity of Deep Fakes.”

Along with the Women in Technology: Hollywood (WiTH) presentation of its annual Leadership Awards — including a keynote presentation and the panel “Male Allies: Motivation, Benefits, and Tangible Actions” — attendees will be treated to a series of “Innovation and Technology Showcases,” one of the more popular inclusions each year at HITS Spring.

Matt Kollmorgen, VP of digital strategy, and Chip Plesnarski, media solutions lead, for SoftServe will present “Hail, Hybrid: A Better Recommendation Engine,” while Joel Sloss, senior lead for media and entertainment security for Microsoft Azure, will speak on how to “Get it to the Cloud (Evolving Your Edit Pipeline).”

Jason Lambert, executive director of content licensing and metadata for Sony Pictures Entertainment, will be joined by Matt Turner, CTO of media and manufacturing for MarkLogic, in the discussion “How Sony is Leveraging Curated Descriptive Metadata for Competitive Business Value.” And Tobias Queisser, CEO of Cinelytic, will be on hand for the presentation “Predictive Insights at Your Fingertips: A Better Way to Evaluate Content.”

The event is presented by Entertainment Partners, with sponsorship by LiveTiles, Amazon Web Services, Expert System, MarkLogic, Microsoft Azure, Richey May Technology Solutions, SoftServe, Spark Digital, Avanade, CDSA, Cinelytic, EIDR, MicroStrategy, the Trusted Partner Network, human-I-T, and Zaszou IT Consulting.
