March 4 Women in Technology: Hollywood Event to Focus on Inclusion

Women in Technology Hollywood (WiTH) will bring Denise Hewett, founder and CEO of entertainment tech company Scriptd, studio executives and industry experts to the stage March 4 at the Skirball Cultural Center for an afternoon of networking and discussion around inclusive innovation.

Kicking off at 4:35 p.m., and immediately following the Smart Content Summit, Hewett will deliver a keynote presentation — “The Problem with Pattern Matching” — where she’ll share the trends she’s discovered while in investing and entertainment that underscore systemic limitations preventing female founders from succeeding. She’ll offer ideas on how to make the world a more inclusive — and profitable — place.

Nadya Ichinomiya, chairwoman of the WiTH Foundation, will follow with the presentation “Building and Leading Innovative teams and Why Inclusion Counts,” where she’ll stress that surviving today’s Volatile, Uncertain, Complex, Ambiguous (VUCA) world means being agile and adaptable to change. The most complete leaders create workplaces where differences are celebrated, where genius is nurtured, and creativity is unleashed at every level, Ichinomiya will share.

The WiTH event closes with an innovation panel, where a diverse group of executives will discuss how individuals can drive a corporate innovation strategy using an entrepreneurial approach, regardless of the size or maturity of the business. How does an individual, from part-time employee to the executives, actively and equally participate in the innovation space for an organization?

The answer to that question will provide insight into how different ideas and convictions of any team around innovation will improve a company’s overall strategy. Rachel Souder-Arguedas, president of the WiTH Foundation, will moderate the panel with Emily Best, founder and CEO of Seed & Spark, Jane Chung, GM of Riot Games, Marina Cortazzo, head of IT for Anastasia Beverly Hills, Shirin Laor-Raz Salemnia, founder and CEO of PlayWerks and WhizGirls Academy, and Christina Lee Storm, VP of business ops, strategy, and emerging tech for DreamWorks Animation.

From 6-7 p.m., WiTH and the Smart Content Summit will hold a combined networking reception. To register, click here.
