SoCal Women’s Leadership Summit Returns Nov. 4

The annual SoCal Women’s Leadership Summit, presented by Women in Technology Hollywood (WiTH), returns Nov. 4 in Los Angeles as both a live, in-person event, and online via the MESAverse virtual platform, bringing together thought leaders in technology and management to discuss the changing landscape of leadership, diversity, accessibility and more.

The half-day event will feature presentations and breakout sessions tackling the impact of bias, both human and algorithmic, leading during the enduring COVID-19 pandemic, and the social equality movement. The most recent in-person edition of the SoCal Women’s Leadership Summit saw more than 250 attendees, with more than 70 percent representing the media and entertainment industry and tech-adjacent companies.

As part of the event, WiTH is accepting nominees for its 5th Annual Leadership Awards, to be presented at the SoCal Women’s Leadership Summit. The deadline for nominations in July 8.

The Leadership Awards honors leaders and advocates for women in the entertainment technology field, as well as those who exemplify WiTH’s pillars in both their work and communities, including professional development, mentoring and networking, and community engagement.

2021 WiTH Leadership Award winners, Nicole McMackin, CEO of Irvine Technology Company, Davida Johnson, managing director, UCLA Office of Advanced Research Computing — Data and Technology Solutions, Katie Hinsen, executive producer of dailies and digital intermediate for Nice Shoes, and Christina Aguilera, head of creative engineering for Amazon Studios, were selected based on their service as technology-career role models and mentors in their communities, and for helping to empower other women to be bold leaders.

Past winners of the award included Vicky Colf, CTO, Warner Bros. Studio; Nancy Faginas-Cody, SVP of enterprise business systems for The Walt Disney Co.; Cristina Mancini-Jones, chief marketing and engagement officer for Salesforce; Cindy McKenzie, CIO, Deluxe Entertainment Services Group and Theresa Miller, EVP and CIO for Lionsgate.

WiTH is an organization that serves as a catalyst for the advancement of women in entertainment technology, and the WiTH Steering Committee, which selects the Leadership Awards winners, includes representatives from women’s organizations at Amazon Studios, Discovery, Google, Intel, Lionsgate, NBCUniversal, Paramount, Sony Pictures Entertainment, Warner Bros. Discovery, and The Walt Disney Company.

Founded in March 2014, WiTH facilitates cross-studio women’s group communications and addresses pressing issues specific to women technology executives in Hollywood, covering leadership, business and technology skills development, mentorship, negotiation, career development, vision, management, community engagement, empowerment, self-confidence and work/life balance.
