About the Position

In this role, using your people and technical leadership skills you will help drive change that make the organization deliver more effectively and supports our team members’ growth. This critical position reports directly to the Sr. Director Alliances & Solutions. Qumulo Directors of Engineering are expected to lead through influence and direction, favoring self-organization and self-direction when possible.

Responsibilities

Support multiple agile feature teams as they build high quality features that meet our customer’s needs through providing stakeholder feedback, reviewing designs, providing business context for scoping and work prioritization decision and removing obstacles that are preventing the team from being productive.
Foster a culture of continuous improvement and learning within the engineering team
Be a change agent to drive lasting change to support continuous improvement of the organization
Grow the team while improving our interviewing and hiring processes.
Coach and mentor engineering team members in the areas of incremental software definition and development, high quality software engineering processes, and interpersonal skills to work effectively in a highly collaborative environment.
Monitor and guide product releases/updates
Manage resources, including year-to-year projections for staffing, service and hardware
Work with our customer success and product teams to ensure that our customers are delighted by our product

Qualifications

Bachelors in Computer Science or Engineering, or equivalent relevant work experience
Minimum of 10 years of experience, 4+years of which must be in engineering management or technical leadership position
Track record for successfully driving systematic change within an organization to produce improved organization and/or business results
Strong people skills leading and track record of growing a talented team of software engineers to deliver outstanding results in a collaborative manner.
Delivered multiple complex software systems with high quality
Strong communication skills. Proven ability to effectively coordinate with product management, customers and other business stakeholders.
Understanding of modern software development practices, such as iterative software development, continuous integration/continuous test/continuous deployment engineering development systems, test drive design, and customer-centric design
