Director, Technical Product Management, Tech Foundations
Riot Games
League Studio is the entity within Riot Games that makes League of Legends, Wild Rift, TFT along with other games in development. To support the aspirations of these games, the Studio makes significant investments in developing and advancing the League game platform through the Tech Foundations team.
HexTech is a team within Tech Foundations that is accountable for the technology encompassing the engine, tools, and the developer experience that is shared between all the games within the studio. Our mission is to deliver modern, sustainable, and efficient development and content creation capabilities that enable studio teams to deliver a fresh, approachable, and top tier player experience.
You will serve as the Technical Product Management lead for HexTech. You will direct a team of technical product managers that lead groups of teams focusing on League’s engine and tools. You will also work with the Producers and Product Managers for the games within the League Studio to ensure we are providing the support their games need. You will report to the Senior Director Technical Product Management of Tech Foundations.
Responsibilities:
Define and evangelize the HexTech product vision ensuring it aligns with the League Studio priorities and technical vision as well as broader Riot goals
Define product outcomes for the teams within HexTech
Manage the product team backlog, roadmap, and oversee processes and ceremonies for the team
Assesses tradeoffs between player value, partner needs, and longer term sustainability of the studio platform in order to make prioritization decisions
Develop an understanding of and empathy for our development customers which you’ll use to make player-focused decisions
Partner and collaborate with the Engineering Manager and Technical Leads on HexTech to align on the product and technical plan
Manage and grow a team of technical product managers
Build relationships with partner teams across Riot for collaboration and representing HexTech and League Studio needs
Required Qualifications:
10+ years relevant industry experience
8+ years of technical product management or program management experience
3+ years experience driving strategy for multiple and/or large-scale products
4+ years of leadership experience managing teams, designing scalable organizations, and building healthy, diverse, and inclusive teams
Aligned to servant leadership principles and the value and importance of ensuring psychological safety, healthy feedback culture and conflict management within and between teams
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience with strong technical knowledge
Desired Qualifications:
Experience leading product definition and development of game platforms and tools that support multiple games
In depth experience with game engine or service development
Experience working directly with creative disciplines and content creators
Master’s in Business Administration or equivalent experience
