Manager, Cloud Architecture

The Manager, Cloud Architecture will have the opportunity to influence and set cloud strategies in the areas of automation, platforms, and products within the Cloud Infrastructure team. The ideal candidate will have expert-level experience with AWS, tools and software providers for the AWS ecosystem, and strong experience designing and engineering web based solutions within AWS.
The Manager, Cloud Architecture will have the ability to work and develop solutions within all aspects of the Cloud Infrastructure team’s products but here are some of the major responsibilities:
Architect and design AWS based solutions that are used to host web-based technologies like LAMP, Java, NodeJS, etc.
Research and develop future-state solutions and on board new technologies that broaden and optimize the Cloud Infrastructure stack
Develop highly resilient AWS based solutions that account for failures within the technology stack, the region, and across various providers
Develop standardized and re-usable puppet modules with a goal to reduce implementation time when used by our Cloud Engineering team
Work closely with the DB Engineering and Cloud Engineering teams to determine standards and guidelines for current and new technologies in the cloud software stack
Develop security strategies that account for all aspects of the OSI model
Provide thought leadership across new implementations and cloud strategies
Lead the evaluation of new technologies and develop documentation and standards for future use
Drive the adoption towards containers on managed through Kubernetes
Qualifications/Requirements
AWS Architect certified
8+ years designing and supporting various web based solutions
8+ years working in a linux based environment
Extensive experience with creating workflow and infrastructure diagrams with Visio or comparable tools
Strong experience developing in java, python, or perl
3+ years working on Puppet system design and Puppet module development
Experience with containers on Kubernetes a plus
Desired Characteristics
Can independently lead projects
Experience working with cross functional operational teams
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Creative thinker who can devise solutions for complex problems
Team player willing to mentor the operations team
