IT Manager – Storage & Recovery Infrastructure

SAS’ IT department supports the infrastructure for over 14,000 employees around the world including over 5,600 employees located at headquarters in Cary, NC. SAS IT also supports thousands of customers on our hosted infrastructure. As a leader in IT, you will oversee the team that is responsible for the Storage and Recovery Infrastructure for SAS and its hosted customers.
The right candidate will have experience leading new initiatives and driving teams to perform at their best. Are you motivated and excited by technologies like cloud based storage designs, high through put I/O constrained workload, and quick recovery options for large storage workloads? You will be communicating on a regular basis with leaders around the company to gather business requirements, understand priorities and assist with planning of new initiatives. You will help standardize our IT environment and assess requests for new Infrastructure Services.
Major Responsibilities:

Provide management and leadership for global IT Storage and Recovery integrated group at SAS. Manage a team of highly motivated engineers.

Provide direction for the storage and recovery infrastructure for SAS internal and hosted customers within the IT Infrastructure Engineering Division.

Research, analyze, and test new technologies.
-
Manage budget and vendor relationships effectively to the benefit of SAS, forecast future spending needs, plan and communicate budget.

Perform capacity planning and forecasting to ensure the team is providing adequate resources to meet requirements of SAS customers and employees.

Develop strategic vision and drive implementation for SAS
-
Coordinate with existing infrastructure and IT groups.
-
Develop and implement standards.
-
Ensure system support documentation is developed and maintained.

Manage 7×24 operational support program
Qualifications
Essential:
-
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or other quantitative degree.
-
12 years’ experience in IT or other technical field
-
5 years’ experience in IT management, in positions of increasing responsibility
-
Experience administering and managing large storage environments
-
Familiar with recovery concepts for large organizations and hosting environment
-
Superior communication and project management skills
-
Strong analytical and process-oriented thinking skills
-
Results-oriented and eager to get projects completed on time
-
Demonstrated ability to plan, prioritize, organize, and deliver multiple complex projects in a timely manner
-
Willingness to be innovative and push boundary on large data solutions
-
Familiar with solutions available in both public and private cloud sectors
Preferred:

ITIL knowledge/certification
-
ServiceNow experience
-
Experience Managing Contracts and Large Budgets
-
Large enterprise recovery solutions like CommVault
-
Storage vendor solutions like EMC, Pure. IBM, and NetApp
-
Understanding of hardware and software based storage solutions
