Nielsen, the industry standard for media measurement, is hiring a Product Director to join our team working on cross-channel, audience measurement solutions. As the overall media ecosystem continues to evolve, we are looking for someone to join us and be a leader in our efforts creating next generation solutions that enable media buyers & sellers to transact with precision, confidence, & trust.
As a Product Director, you will be responsible for leading the design & development of products within the Nielsen Media Planning suite of solutions.
A successful candidate will lead a cross-functional team of engineering, design, data science, sales, marketing, & client success to deliver the next generation of audience management & measurement products. Subject matter expert in the Product Management discipline, with a proven track record of abstracting core product concepts and critical user experiences, leveraging agile & human-centered design methodologies, and scaling products to operate at a global level while allowing for local configurability and optimization.
Industry expert – solid understanding & experience within Media Planning & Buying, with demonstrated knowledge of the media ecosystem and dynamics that drive the marketplace
Data-driven operator that leverages a metric/KPI approach to roadmap decisions aided by establishing, tracking, and reporting on product performance
Collaborative partner who fosters strong relationships and alignment across the organization, bringing people along with them by gaining the trust of others through the use of data, vision, empathy, & accountability
Excellent listener with a knack for building trusted relationships with strategic partners, both internally & externally
Core Responsibilities
Vision & Strategy
Understand Nielsen’s strategic and competitive position and deliver products that are recognized best in the industry.
Identify new product opportunities based on customer & industry trends and challenges and perform market analysis to inform product decisions and roadmap.
Holistically understand core business problems and requirements from clients, prospects, sales and support, in order to invent efficient and useful solutions.
Establish shared vision across the company by building consensus on priorities leading to product execution.
Define and deliver the annual product roadmap for the Nielsen audience activation platform across a range of both mature & emerging customer bases.
Maintain a general awareness and understanding of the advertising/media operations and television/content-providers landscape, including vendors, partners, and new technologies
Development & Delivery.
Develop and execute development lifecycle including design, research, development, testing, productization and iteration against detailed Product Requirements Documents (PRDs) and release plans with security, legal and product teams.
Integrate usability studies, research and market analysis into product requirements to enhance user .
agile methodologies to drive product development efforts, ensure the final product is functional, operational, and meets design and feature specifications.
Relentlessly focused on delivery and understanding the value of getting MVPs and products out the door so we can learn and modify as we go along.
Commercialization & Marketing.
Partner with finance and senior management to set investment strategies, pricing strategies, & actively manage PnL.
Partner with sales, marketing, advisory services, and client solutions to successfully position products and features for successful client use.
Management & Collaboration.
Manage multiple products and priorities, scale teams, and ensure org is effective, healthy and set up for success by establishing clear and measurable goals.
Attract, build, manage, and develop a talented, diverse team of product managers while building an inclusive environment that fosters intellectual curiosity, transparent accountability, teamwork, and trust.
Use resources effectively, by building business cases for new products and features and prioritizing needs based on team objectives; clearly demonstrate business use cases and vet assumptions before investment.
Collaborate with business development, engineering, data science, and design leadership to deliver impactful experiences that customers will love.
Key Qualifications
5+ years experience across the product management lifecycle for enterprise products 2+ years leading product management teams, with a proven record of successfully launching and growing programmatic media and/or audience management products.
A bachelor’s degree; post-graduate degree a plus.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to excel in a dynamic, intellectual, results-driven environment.
Proven ability to rapidly learn, synthesize, and articulate complex concepts in a clear and concise manner to technical and non-technical audiences.
Experience understanding and evaluating client requests, translating requests into detailed designs & requirements, and guiding ideation through implementation.
Ability to quickly adapt to changes in the industry, development processes, and business priorities.
Good organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
Potential for up to 30% time for travel (domestic and international).Passionate about what you do and inspiring those around you
