Growing open source workloads on Microsoft Azure is core to our business strategy and critical to achieve our revenue and consumption goals.

Today, nearly 1 out of every 3 VMs deployed on Azure are Linux. We’re seeing strong momentum for Linux and open source driven by customers using Azure for business applications and modern application architectures, including containers and big data solutions. With over 60% of the 3,800 solutions in Azure Marketplace built on Linux, including popular open source images by Ubuntu, CoreOS, Bitnami, Oracle, DataStax, Red Hat and others. But, this is just the start… We plan to accelerate attracting and winning open source workloads on Azure and we need a strong leader to make this happen!

As team leader, this role is accountable for driving the Azure + OSS business strategy and execution, including managing a complex, high-growth portfolio of 1st and 3rd party products, services and solutions marketed to a critical new audience for Microsoft, as well as defining the business opportunities, priorities and message in a comprehensive, customer-centric way with operational excellence. You will lead a team focused on winning OSS broadly on Azure across development, DevOps and infrastructure workloads in addition to industry relations, community engagement and GTM programs.

This role is also accountable for going to market and delivering the message at scale, with the intent to build new Azure fans. Therefore, this role must clearly articulate to senior leadership what the comprehensive Azure + OSS global plan is, how success will be measure, what the monetization strategy is and what are the growth blockers for said monetization, and must bring a long-term vision for the Azure + OSS business that focuses on growth and customer acquisition.

This is a high visibility role requiring cross-functional, cross-company influence and collaboration, from driving product direction to equipping existing and defining new programs. The ideal candidate is a business technologist that exhibits an outstanding track record of managing complex changes at a rapid pace, navigating uncertainty and driving repeatable results as part of complex go-to-market plans, is effective in collaborating with other product marketers and at-scale marketing engines, possesses deep open source subject matter expertise, has demonstrated their ability to apply this expertise to strategic goals and presents highly developed leadership skills and competencies.

Key Responsibilities

•Drive the business strategy for Azure + OSS, align the priorities with resources and prioritize the team’s investments according to the strategy, and review external strategies affecting the team’s resourcing, such as the partner strategy, to influence and align as appropriate

•Lead an effective team of product marketers aligned around portfolio concentration areas that can relentlessly drive the Azure + OSS go-to-market priorities, including unique audience definition, value proposition and positioning & messaging

•Represent Microsoft’s aspirations of being a thought leader in OSS by being an internal and external OSS thought leader, representing the customer’s voice both inbound with Engineering and outbound in the market, and drive end-to-end alignment in the company including measures of success across divisions and functions

Qualifications:

•Deep knowledge of open source community and technologies across Linux, OSS languages and tools

•Proven leadership skills, including outstanding communication skills across organizational boundaries and with senior leaders, including experience with business development and go-to-market efforts with external partners

•Outstanding track record of driving repeatable results in a rapidly changing environment while navigating uncertainty

•Industry-recognized subject matter expertise in the team’s space of operation

•Strong evidence of influence as a business technologist, and ability to switch contexts to apply expertise to strategic goals

•10+ years product marketing, product management, program management

•BA/BS required

•MBA preferred
