Production Support Engineer

Nielsen’s Global Engineering organization is looking for a Production Support Engineer / Systems Analyst to join our growing team in Ljubljana and Koper, Slovenia. This position provides Production Support for Nielsen Global Engineering’s International Television Audience Measurement Collection and Crediting systems.
The ideal candidate is a recent graduate in Computer Engineering or Computer Science (or similar technical degrees), with excellent communication skills, autonomous and responsible in her/his work. The position includes troubleshooting of data-production systems and application problems, investigating issues and root cause analysis, resolution of issues and periodic application administration tasks. The position also includes documenting system functionality, configuration and maintenance tasks, software application deployment and training of technical operators and users.
The role involves on-call duty 24/7 for 1 week per month, (typically responding to emergency situations inside production environments). Extra compensation is awarded for this.
Required:
Higher education in Electrical Engineering and/or Computer Science
Networking / IT skills: ability to troubleshoot connection issues, understanding how to work remotely on distant environments
Experience with Amazon cloud solutions and associated deployment and orchestrating technologies (eg. Terraform, CloudFormation,…)
Good knowledge of Linux (CentOS preferred) and shell scripting
Basic understanding of relational database management systems (PostgreSQL)
Strong communication and presentation skills, able to work as a member of a team, proactive in troubleshooting, ability to think out of the box, work across boundaries, open to multicultural working environment
Ability to communicate in English
Availability to travel for short-term work assignments (must have current valid passport)
Preferred:
Recent graduate in Computer Engineering or Computer Science (or similar degrees)
Experience with highly critical production environments. Understanding the importance of production environments (test, deploy, smoke/confidence test)
