Summary

Sony Group Corporation is seeking a Senior Manager to join the Privacy Section, which is part of the Legal, Compliance & Privacy Department. This position will be based in the London office and will report to the Head of Global Projects & Practices.

The Privacy Section is the team responsible for maintaining and enhancing Sony’s global privacy management program, helping ensure compliance with applicable privacy laws, regulations, and internal policy requirements, and fostering a corporate culture that respects privacy and builds trust with Sony’s customers, employees, fans, artists and business partners.

Responsibilities:

Initiates and conducts efforts aimed at promoting and ensuring compliance with global privacy laws, regulations, and policy requirements.

Supports the management of global initiatives related to protecting the personal data of Sony’s customers, employees, fans, artists and business partners.

Assesses projects, initiatives and/or products for privacy compliance, carries out privacy risk assessments and suggests appropriate steps to address any privacy risk.

Provides advice and support across the company, as a privacy subject matter expert.

Consults with teams across the company regarding privacy issues and the integration of privacy best practices.

Assists the Head of Global Projects & Practices with the organization and day to day management of the department’s global practice areas:

Partners with the Compliance Monitoring department to deliver Sony’s Global Privacy Compliance Monitoring program, including providing subject matter expertise and consulting with Sony group companies on assessment activities

Leads on the department’s global Privacy Impact Assessment (PIA) activities, including supervising the completion of and quality assuring global PIAs, and enhancing and maintaining the global PIA template

Oversees and assists in the development and facilitation of privacy training and awareness programs across the group to improve employee awareness

Maintains knowledge of applicable privacy laws, regulations and best practices, and monitors changing global privacy laws, regulations and best practices.

Works closely with appropriate teams to enhance governance, controls and documentation, and address findings.

Qualifications:

A strong data privacy background, including a minimum of 7 years’ direct data privacy experience.

Experience of working in house at a large multinational company is desirable.

Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate field, such as information technology, law, management, or equivalent experience.

A legal qualification is valuable, but not essential.

Certifications such as CIPP strongly preferred.

Experience with delivering global cross-company privacy programs and/or initiatives, such as GDPR and/or CCPA, preferred.

Demonstrable experience in conducting privacy audits and/or compliance assessments or similar, and privacy risk assessments and/or privacy impact assessments. Includes experience in drafting privacy compliance assessment and privacy impact reports.

Practical experience of using the OneTrust platform and RSA Archer GRC solution is desirable

Exceptional communication and advocacy skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to express complex and technical issues as understandable language within Sony, including clients and other stakeholders.

Excellent presentation and PowerPoint skills.

Must work well as an individual contributor and be a team player.

Ability to work and communicate effectively and tactfully with all levels of executives.

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

Ability to manage and work on multiple projects and practice areas simultaneously, with strong ability to prioritize multiple tasks and respond to emergencies, organize and schedule work effectively.
