The Security Products group is responsible for developing a range of security related products at Fastly. As a part of this group, you will be working with technology brought in through the acquisition of Signal Sciences, specifically Smartparse and other attack detection systems in Fastly’s NGWAF. The stack is written in Go (“Golang”) and runs as both a service and deployed to customer’s on premises servers. You will collaborate across product and engineering teams as you guide and develop the next phase of attack detection.

What You’ll Do

Write clean, modular, test-driven code to implement features from a customer-driven product roadmap that enables customers to protect their web applications

Coordinate and communicate with product managers and other engineers on the team and across other technical and product teams

Contribute to code reviews, documentation and other team processes

Improve, expand, and automate our testing frameworks so problems are surfaced faster

Support sales engineers and customer security operations who are selling and supporting your wor

Explore new approaches to detection such as statistical pattern recognition or machine learning

What We’re Looking For

You have at least 3 years of production experience in back end development experience with Go, Rust, C or C++

Strong interest in application security

Strong software development and testing skills, with an appreciation for correctness

Understanding of what makes valuable observability with metrics, logging and tracing

Experience working in a collaborative, distributed team environment

Knowledge of HTTP and related networking protocols

An ability and desire to automate everything

Work Hours: This position will require you to be available during core business hours.
