Sr Manager, Data Engineering

Responsibilities
- Clarify the vision – See the forest above the trees and inspire the team toward the goal.
- Mentor – The team should want to strive to your technical capability and they should benefit from it without having to seek it out.
- Evolve the process – Help set standards for onboarding, requirements, documentation, coding, branching, code review, deployment, support, operations, platforms, analysis, automation, communication, maintenance, decommissioning and many other necessary processes.
- Drive the conversation – Have the soft social, thoughtful and empathic skills at a level necessary for a large team and many customers.
- Be responsible – Help own, set and meet the expectations on behalf of the engineering team.
- Fit the role – Grow, participate, drive, delegate and track the team and its deliverables. Be predictable and consistent.
- Empower the business – Support the business to unearth data, transform data, access data, understand data and exploit data
- Create awesome software – Use agile techniques to build software and platforms like recommendation engines, analytics engines, and advertising engines.
- Command data – Leverage petabytes of data, data mining, statistics, machine learning, deep learning, open source, orchestration tools, NoSQL, Apache Spark, Apache Kafka
- Prosper with us – Work with devops, analysts, data scientists, programmers, marketers, filmmakers, finance, project management, product management and leaders to amaze, surprise and delight.
Basic Qualifications
- 15+ years of team based programming experience
- 5+ years of management experience
- 5+ years of data pipeline experience.
- Advanced experience and knowledge Java, Kotlin, Scala, SQL, Python, TypeScript, Zsh, or lambdas. Know which to use for the time & purpose.
- Advanced experience with Algorithm and data structures fanatic
- Proven experience building and deploying enterprise scale solutions.
- 5+ years of Agile methodology experience
Required Education
Substantial equivalent research oriented analytical work experience may be acceptable.
Preferred Education
B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering or a Physical Science from an accredited or notable institution preferred.
