The Dolby Technical Writer leads documentation, information architecture, and scalable processes for maintaining shared knowledge. They collaborate with Subject Matter Experts in San Francisco, Berlin, Wrocław, and other Dolby offices worldwide to develop documentation for Dolby Vision solutions and infrastructure for intelligent A/V content processing and delivery systems. They serve as an interdepartmental point person on these activities. Being comfortable in code and revision systems, they work alongside Engineers to create, revise, edit, and design technical instructions, test documentation, and illustrations. Final deliverable formats include HTML, PDF, online help systems, XML consumed by automated systems, and fill-in forms.

Responsibilities:

Contribute to the information experience of customers who utilize Dolby Audio or Dolby Vision solutions
Collaborate with leaders in Engineering, Product Management, and Support to build a cohesive narrative for technical information
Edit and improve content contributed by Subject Matter Experts in the broader organization
Contribute to processes and templates that nurture team mates to quickly learn and follow standards for content collaboration

Preferred Qualifications:

Writing is your passion and your craft. You have native or nearly native level of English and are an excellent editor with 2+ years documenting software domains (APIs, SDKs, web frameworks) or audio/video processing and distribution technologies
Experience writing for developer audiences
Experience in documenting software-related tasks and concepts
Experience using minimalist writing and structured authoring principles to maximize searchability, filtering, and content reusability across delivery types, products, and versions
Comfortable designing and writing content in DITA, Markdown, and other source formats
Ability to work with version-control tools such as Git or Perforce
Understanding of API documentation and reviewing code comments is a plus
Familiarity with the agile methodology
Skills in technical illustration
Experience/skills/coursework in:
Audio/video codecs and production
Software development
UX design
Tech Comms content development and production tools
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional certification
