Blu-Tech Summit To Discuss Technological Advances, Production Efficiencies for Blu-ray Titles

The Media & Entertainment Services Alliance, in cooperation with DEG: The Digital Entertainment Group, plans to hold a half-day technology summit for leading Blu-ray Disc developers to discuss recent advancements in the creation, production, and distribution of Blu-ray titles.
The Blu-Tech Summit will take place Dec. 7, 2011 at the Universal Hilton in Los Angeles.
“MESA is excited to bring together the Blu-ray community for this essential event to discuss the technology and production efficiencies that continue to drive the format’s development,” says Guy Finley, MESA’s executive director.
Members of the conference’s advisory board include: Seth Hallen, Testronic Labs; Matt Kennedy, 1K Studios/Cinram; Orly Kroh-Trifman, Panasonic Hollywood Laboratory; Darren Lepke, RCDb; Bob Michaels, Deluxe Digital Studios; Paulette Pantoja, BluFocus; Charles Potter, Sony DADC; Amy Jo Smith, DEG: The Digital Entertainment Group; Bhanu Srikanth, Jargon Technologies; Geoffrey Tully, THX; and Duncan Wain, Zoo Digital.
Conference sessions will include an exploration of what studios’ new cloud-based UltraViolet platform means for Blu-ray developers, along with a look at how Blu-ray producers can leverage the rise of “second screen” devices such as tablets. Other topics will include the optimization of facility workflows for 2D-to-3D video conversion and 4K resolution, and advancements in Blu-ray replication and packaging processes.
