S3’s Finley to Keynote International Symposium on Media Innovations April 18 in Brussels

As media organizations grapple with the challenges of the digital age, the upcoming International Symposium on Media Innovations (ISMI) will put the spotlight on how to use those challenges to create business opportunities.

The increasing consumer appetite for interactivity, not just in the living room but throughout day-to-day routines, opens numerous opportunities for a broad spectrum of creative approaches for media companies and advertisers.

ISMI, set for April 18 in Brussels, will be keynoted by Guy Finley, Executive Director of the 2nd Screen Society & Media Entertainment Services Alliance (MESA). Finley will give an in-depth look at where 2nd screen started, how the emerging ecosystem is impacting the entertainment industry, and will provide an outlook on future uses across multiple consumer verticals including advertising, broadcast, sports, retail and more.

With innovative products and services being created to enrich consumers’ multi-screen experiences, it is imperative to understand both consumer’s behavior and the dynamics of the media ecosystem. ISMI will bring together media companies, agencies, academics, regulators and policy makers for a debate on media innovations in Brussels.

ISMI will also feature digital leaders from Microsoft, Sony Music Entertainment, Small Town Heroes, Duval Guillaume, Young & Rubicam, VRT (Flemish Public Broadcaster) and iMinds Mix, who will explore the following topics: Innovation in Media Usage Practices; Re-inventing the Music Business Ecosystem; Empowerment Through innovation in Technologies and Applications; and Stimulating Research and Innovation in the Media sector.

Presentations will be intertwined with cutting-edge academic paper presentations featuring local and international research. The ISMI conference serves as a platform to exchange new ideas and cutting edge research on current and future media innovations.

The ISMI conference is produced by the Center for Studies on Media Information and Telecommunication (iMinds – SMIT) of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel in cooperation with the University of Oslo in Norway. For more information or to attend, click here.
