Condé Nast, Avalon Consulting Headline MarkLogic Metadata Webinar (MESA)
Story Highlights
By Garrett Randall
In the media and entertainment space, metadata has become an increasingly crucial component when it comes to monetizing digital assets.
How studios and other media and entertainment companies are streamlining their businesses with metadata solutions will be the topic of discussion July 30, when San Carlos, Calif.-based NoSQL database company MarkLogic hosts a unique Webinar: “Metadata is the New Gold.”
The presentation will see Matt Turner, MarkLogic’s CTO for media and publishing, Brian Cross, director of digital rights and assets for Condé Nast, and Mike Green, managing director for Avalon Consulting, tackling the “mission critical” nature of metadata, and sharing insights into new approaches for managing and delivering digital assets.
“As the value of metadata increases, new approaches to managing metadata are having a big impact on the bottom line,“ Turner said.
The hour-long discussion will cover:
• Where metadata managing is making the most impact in media and entertainment organizations.
• How new approaches to managing metadata (like the Condé Nast Montrose project) are impacting the business.
• Examples of the challenges and rewards from Cross’s projects at Condé Nast, as well as those from Warner Bros. and BBC, that leverage Enterprise NoSQL.
“Since 2007, we’ve improved discoverability of assets in our DAM through a combination of off-shoring, text mining, and internal tagging,” Cross said. “With crowdsourcing integration we now have a comprehensive approach that incorporates application development with metadata creation.
“We can now generate metadata in two weeks that would have taken two years.”
The Webinar — produced by the Media & Entertainment Services Alliance and the Hollywood IT Society — will be held at 11 a.m. Pacific on July 30. To register, click here.
