Important Security Updates

Adobe Acrobat/Reader: Adobe has released updated versions of Acrobat and Reader to fix at least 56 security vulnerabilities. Updates are available through the program or from Adobe’s website.

Adobe Flash Player: Adobe has released version 19.0.0.226 to fix 13 vulnerabilities. Updates are available from Adobe’s website.

Avira Free Antivirus: Avira has released version 15.0.13.210 of its free Antivirus. Updates are available from Avira’s website.

Dropbox: Dropbox has released version 3.10.8 for its file hosting program. Updates are available at Dropbox’s website. [See Citadel’s warning below]

Google Chrome: Google has released Google Chrome version 46.0.2490.71 to fix multiple vulnerabilities. Updates are available from within the browser or from Google Chrome’s website.

Malwarebytes Anti-Malware: Malwarebytes has released version 2.2.0.1024 of its free Malwarebytes Anti-Malware. Updates are available from Malwarebytes’ website.

Microsoft Patch Tuesday: Microsoft’s Patch Tuesday released 6 updates to address at least 33 security vulnerabilities within Windows operating systems, Internet Explorer, and Office products. At least 3 of the updates address critical vulnerabilities. Details on the updates are available from Microsoft’s website.

Mozilla Firefox: Mozilla has released version 41.0.2 to address a critical security vulnerability. Updates are available within the browser or from Mozilla’s website.

Dropbox 3.10.8 [Citadel warns against relying on security of Dropbox or other cloud-based file exchange systems. We recommend files containing sensitive information be independently encrypted with a program like Axcrypt; encryption keys be at least 15 characters long; and the master Dropbox [or other] password be at least 15 characters long and different from other passwords.]

Java SE 8 Update 60 [Citadel recommends removing or disabling Java from your browser. Java is a major source of cyber criminal exploits. It is not needed for most internet browsing. If you have a particular web site that requires Java, Citadel recommends using a two-browser approach to minimize risk. If you normally browse the Web with Firefox, for example, disable the Java plugin in Firefox and use an alternative browser — such as Chrome, IE9, Safari, etc — with Java enabled to browse only the sites that require it.]

Cisco Multiple Products: Secunia reports a patched vulnerabilities in Cisco’s Unified Contact Center Enterprise and Prime Collaboration. Apply updates. Secunia also reports unpatched security vulnerabilities in Cisco’s Prime Infrastructure and AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client. No official solutions are currently available.

Citrix NetScaler: Secunia reports a patched vulnerability in Citrix NetScaler Service Delivery Appliance. Apply update.

Oracle Linux: Secunia report patched vulnerabilities for Oracle Linux. Apply updated packages via the yum or rpm utility.
