LADB Expands Captioning Services, Adds Industry Vet Schuster

Digital media and content services facility Los Angeles Distribution & Broadcasting (LADB) has named closed captioning specialist Deborah Schuster as its new EVP of accessibility services, a role that will see her spearheading LADB’s expansion into the live captioning business.

LADB has been providing closed captioning services for more than five years to its clients, including studios, producers and others. The L.A.-based company’s entry into the live captioning arena required an addition of someone with more than four decades of captioning know-how, according to LADB president Eric Collins.

“We welcome Deborah to the LADB team and are excited to have her expertise and depth of knowledge as we pursue growth in our business to include more services geared to equal access for all Americans,” said Eric Collins, President of LADB, “Our closed captioning business has seen significant growth over the last few years, and our expansion into live captioning will enhance our service portfolio.”

Schuster’s decades of closed captioning and audio description services experience most recently includes six years as SVP of sales with closed captioning specialist VITAC. Previously, she spent more than a decade as partner and EVP for CCS (Closed Captioning Services). She was also executive director of marketing for the National Captioning Institute, and is a recipient of the Accessible Media Industry Coalition’s (AMIC) Pioneer Award, for her work in developing, promoting and expanding the closed captioning service for broadcasters.

“I look forward to fulfilling my role as Executive Vice President in LADB’s Accessibility Services group,” Schuster said. “The goal of which is to help businesses reach every viewer. I am delighted to join the terrific folks at LADB to promote and deliver these critical accessibility services to all producers of video and digital content. The key is to define, obtain and utilize the various resources necessary to provide the highest quality services to the growing accessibility industry.”
