Alvarez & Marsal Adds to Latin American Leadership Team (MESA)

Professional services firm Alvarez & Marsal (A&M) has added Paulo Mota as a managing director to its Global Transaction Advisory Group in Brazil, augmenting its regional offering in Latin America, the company said.

Mota brings more than two decades experience in leadership positions within the financial advisory area, covering financial due diligence, valuation and mergers and acquisitions, including the technology, private equity firm, education and specialized services sectors.

Prior to joining A&M, Mota was a partner at KPMG, based in São Paulo, Brazil, where he supported fundraising for early stage companies and projects, and advised on deal structuring and the company valuations. He was also part of KPMG’s Transaction Services group, leading due diligence on projects in Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Venezuela, Spain, United Kingdom, and other areas of Europe.

“As domestic and cross-border transactions rapidly increase in volume and value, the need for seasoned advisors is crucial. Paulo’s experience advising domestic and foreign clients in significant acquisitions and divestitures will bolster our team’s ability to meet client needs in Brazil and Latin America,” said Fabio Pires, a managing director and practice leader of A&M’s Global Transaction Advisory Group in Latin America. “His appointment enhances our transaction advisory roots in Latin America and strengthens our transaction advisory cross-border capabilities.”

Paul Aversano, a managing director in A&M’s Private Equity Services practice and the global practice leader of the firm’s Global Transaction Advisory Group, added: “Our expanding transaction offering and M&A capabilities in Brazil is aligned with our global growth strategy. Paulo’s appointment demonstrates A&M’s commitment to an integrated approach that combines global breadth with experienced local teams.”
