HITS Fall: Cognizant, DXC, Aspera Share Workflow Thoughts

The latest advances in systems and workflow technologies used in the media and entertainment space will be on the minds of several experts Oct. 4 during the Hollywood Innovation & Technology Summit (HITS) Fall event in Los Angeles.

During a midday track of sessions, reps from Cognizant, DXC Technology and IBM Aspera will walk attendees through use cases and offer up the latest news behind what’s being offered. Here’s a look at what to expect beginning at 11 a.m.:

• In “The Second Half of the Chessboard: the Future Work Ahead for M&E Digital Transformation,” Robert Brown, associate VP of Cognizant’s Center for the Future of Work, will share highlights and key findings from a company study that specifies recommendations for M&E businesses to thrive in the work ahead, exploring the moves necessary to better compete and drive growth.

• Steve Wong, director of innovation and development for DXC Technology, will review the challenges and the possibilities of using blockchain in a production workflow, showing how blockchain technology may allow creators to utilize self-executing contracts in a new a marketplace, in the presentation “Is Blockchain and Distributed Compute and Store Right for TV and Music Production?”

• In “How Fox Sports Revolutionized Production of the 2018 FIFA World Cup” Mike Flathers, CTO for IBM Aspera, shares how Fox Sports produced viewer experiences by streaming live HD and UHD video across unmanaged IP networks from Russia to its central facilities in Los Angeles for real-time editing, while matches were ongoing, by using IBM Aspera FASPStream technology.

In total more than 1,000 senior studio executives and their technology partners attended last year’s HITS Fall, making it the largest industry conference of the season in Los Angeles. HITS Fall will also host membership meetings and technology briefings for both TPN and Entertainment ID Registry (EIDR).
