KlarisIP, Testronic, ISE to Share Perspectives at Feb. 27 Smart Hollywood Summit

Among the highlights of the Feb. 27 Smart Hollywood Summit — a day-long conference looking at the transformative effect AI, blockchain, metadata, OTT and automated processes are having on Hollywood content — are a series of technology showcases, with industry experts covering the latest with everything from AI, machine learning and blockchain, to metadata, to apps, platforms and identifiers.

In addition to a presentation by IBM Watson’s Tom Ohanian on how AI and ML are influencing content creation, and a look at metadata agility from Hammerspace’s David Flynn, Independent Security Evaluators, KlarisIP, Testronic and the heads of the Entertainment ID Registry (EIDR) will offer attendees new innovative ideas, processes and perspectives.

Here’s a look at what’s on tap at the Smart Hollywood Summit Technology Showcases:

• In the presentation “Blockchain Security,” Ian Thomas, business operations manager for Independent Security Evaluators, will discuss today’s misconceptions around blockchain development, as well as how organizations can shift their thinking around blockchain to strengthen their security posture.

• Ed Klaris, CEO of KlarisIP, will offer his thoughts on how data-driven executives can further mine their existing IP with metadata to create future value and add more assets to the balance sheet, in the presentation “Evaluating IP Metadata as Capital.”

• “Your OTT Platform Sucks!” has Jason Gish, president of film and TV for Testronic, looks at how 2019 is becoming a pivotal year in OTT, with more platform launches than ever. But with increasing options for consumers, just a few negative comments can have a huge impact on a platform’s success. Gish will offer real use-cases that outline elements for success and pitfalls to avoid.

• EIDR’s executive director Will Kreth and director of engineering Richard Kroon will share recent wins for the universal, unique identifier system, with EIDR Content ID’s included in two new SMPTE standards, IMF for Broadcast, and OBID/OBID-TLC (part of CIMM TAXI Complete). They — as well as special guests — will show attendees where EIDR is helping catalyze media supply chain optimization and cost savings.

This year’s Smart Hollywood Summit is being produced by MESA’s Smart Content Council with sponsorship by IBM Watson, MarkLogic, EIDR, Hammerspace, human-I-T, Independent Security Evaluators (ISE), KlarisIP, Testronic, FilmTrack, Mediamorph, RSG Media, Vistex, Vubiquity and Bob Gold & Associates.
