Vast Media Smart Screen Round-Up: ‘Walking Dead’ VR, Interactive ‘Stranger Things’

Here’s a run-down of recent second screen-related entertainment items, via Berlin-based research and consulting company Vast Media.

• Game studio Survios has announced a new collaboration with AMC, delivering a new VR video game for “The Walking Dead.” Set to debut during the fall, “The Walking Dead: Onslaught” allows four players to choose from characters from the series (including Rick, Michonne, Daryl, Carol and more to undergo a campaign against the dead. The game will be made available for various VR platforms.

• To promote its fifth annual Prime Day on July 15-16, Amazon will host an online concert via Prime Video, on July 10. The “Amazon Prime Day Concert 2019” will be hosted by actress Jane Lynch, headlined by Taylor Swift, and will include performances by Dua Lipa, SZA and Becky G. Available to Prime subscribers in more than 200 countries, the concert will be available on demand for a limited time after the live performances, and will be accessible via Alexa devices as well.

• Netflix and DreamWorks Animation are teaming up to deliver “Fast & Furious: Spy Racers,” an original animated series based on the film franchise of the same name. The series is set to follow teenager Tony Toretto, younger cousin of Vin Diesel’s Dominic Toretto, as he and his friends are recruited by a government agency to take down a crime ring.

• In conjunction with the third season of Netflix’s hit original series “Stranger Things,” Next Games has announced a free mobile game of the same name, one that features location-based puzzle role playing, available for both iOS and Android platforms next year. Stylized to look like a 1980’s cartoon, the game will include characters from the show exploring the world of the series.
