SDI Media Helps A+E Networks UK Deliver on Hungarian Remote Recording (MESA)

The COVID-19 pandemic has tested the remote work capabilities of media and entertainment vendors worldwide. Localization provider SDI Media is sharing one example where it’s risen to the occasion. With the UK arm of A+E Networks in dire need of Hungarian voiceover dubbing for more than 40 titles in April alone, the broadcaster looked to SDI Media to deliver.
Using the SessionLinkPRO toolkit — a browser-based solution with no software required, with audio and video encrypted and streamed securely — SDI Media Hungary, led by country manager Nicolette Szabo, used nearly 150 actors to deliver for A+E Networks’s April schedule, including “Forged In Fire, Auschwitz: The Nazis And The Final Solution” and “The Curse Of Oak Island.”

He identified challenges that localization providers are dealing with — and overcoming — as inconsistency of audio due, to recording in non-treated rooms; that recording sessions can take longer, depending on internet bandwidth; and that more time can be required for editing and mixing. Actors not having a reasonable USB microphone has been encountered as well.

SDI Media has rolled out remote recording throughout its key locations in Europe and the Americas, with Daniele Turchetta, studio technology director, testing the SessionLinkPRO solutions in 15 countries, and doing live productions in nine of those, both for voice over and lip-sync dubbing
