Red Bee Adds Points of Presence in London, Paris for Channel Distribution (MESA)

Media services specialist Red Bee announced 15th July it’s added new points of presence (POPs) for channel distribution in the UK and France, with three in London and one in Paris, giving broadcasters, streaming services, telcos and other content providers direct access to a catalogue of 10 000 live channels from the company’s channel Store.

The POPs will give UK and French content providers the ability to provide TV bundles for viewers, with the London POPs being made available via Telehouse and Equinix, as well as in Red Bee’s Broadcast Centre facilities, and Paris POP being hosted by Telehouse.

“We are very excited to bring our full catalogue of television and radio channels to the UK and French market through our new points of presence in London and Paris,” said Kristian Langbridge, head of transformation and distribution at Red Bee “This latest deployment allows us to provide British and French Broadcasters, streaming services, telcos and other content providers with a fast and simple way to source live channels and create competitive channel packages.”

The Channel Store is a global signal aggregation and distribution platform for live content aggregation via multiple sources over Red Bee’s global network, covering both internal and external playout sources, web streams, fixed-line fiber connections, and satellite down-link through Red Bee’s teleport facilities. Currently there are more than 1,000 active channels.

“We are delighted that Red Bee has expanded its presence in our Paris and London data centers,” said Mark Pestridge, sales director for Telehouse Europe. “Our strong presence in Europe, serving the largest collection of cloud services, carriers, content providers, internet exchanges and private media networks, ensures Red Bee can build stronger connections with its broadcast customers and ultimately improve the quality of experience for end users.”
