Annual 4K 4Charity Fun Run Goes Virtual for IBC in 2020 (MESA)

Organizers of the 4K 4Charity Fun Run series announced that the running and walking event hosted in collaboration with the International Broadcasting Convention (IBC) is going virtual for 2020. The 4K 4Charity series leverages fun, healthy activities to raise funds for nonprofits focused on increased diversity and inclusion in the technology and media industries.

This year it will also help to raise funds for those most impacted by COVID-19. Registration is open at 4k4charity.com/ibc and donations will be accepted through October 30.

The 4K 4Charity Virtual Run allows supporters to participate safely from any location. To get started, select a 4K (2.49-mile) or 8K (4.97-mile) distance, print out a race bib, and then complete the route by October 30, at your own pace, whether it’s one day or across several days.

Participants are encouraged to share their unique 4K 4Charity journey on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn or Twitter, with social tag @4K4Charity or #4K4Charity. All registrants will receive a finisher’s medal at the conclusion of the event period.

A portion of proceeds from the 4K 4Charity virtual event will benefit Technovation, a global tech education nonprofit that empowers girls and families to become leaders, creators and problem-solvers in their lives and communities.

It will also support UNICEF, which is on the ground in more than 190 countries, partnering with front-line responders to keep children healthy and learning, and protected from sickness and violence.

“We are delighted to be working with 4K 4Charity again this year and very much look forward to seeing everyone’s virtual runs around the world during IBC SHOWCASE and beyond. Thanks to the support of so many people in our industry, 4K 4Charity has raised an amazing amount of money over the years and once again it will be supporting some excellent causes,” says Michael Crimp, CEO, IBC
