Women’s Football Service Turns to Red Bee

Wnited, the first-ever global streaming service for women’s football, is currently live-streaming the UEFA Women’s Champions League, thanks to Red Bee Media and its OTT streaming platform.

A dozen group matches will be streaming worldwide through Dec. 16, thanks to content provided via Swedish rights agency Spring Media, with matches including FC Barcelona, Juventus, FC Rosengård and Bayern München.

“Wnited is a great example of how it’s possible to make the most of your content rights by expanding reach to a global audience through an independent streaming service,” said Steve Russell, head of OTT and media management for Red Bee. “Our OTT platform is perfectly suited for a service like this and we’re looking forward to watching these matches and tracking the global engagement of the content together with Spring Media.”

The UEFA Women’s Champions League matches on Wnited are available to stream for free, live and on demand, via low latency streams in broadcast quality.  Wnited aims to provide content for an underserved market by creating a portal for women’s football content and a community for a growing group of global fans. The service was created by Spring Media with support from Red Bee Media.

“We are excited to deliver UEFA Women’s Champions League to a worldwide audience together with Red Bee,” said Spring Media’s Tobias Osmund. “Earlier this year, COVID-19 halted our plans to launch Wnited at full scale, but we know there’s still a big appetite for women’s football and it is a pleasure to now introduce Wnited to fans across the globe.”

Red Bee’s OTT platform offers brands and content owners the ability to launch fully-fledged streaming services, supporting all content formats, including linear, live, catch-up and on-demand, as well as the full range of monetisation options.
